Established in 2001, Seattle Glee Clubs (SGC) is a 501(c)3 non profit, dedicated to nurturing adults in their exploration of music. SGC provides a welcoming environment where music is celebrated in two traditions: choral and jazz.


SGC MISSION STATEMENT

Seattle Glee Clubs is a community-based music organization that is committed to providing adult amateur singers with choral experiences that are rich, rewarding and fun. We are also dedicated to sharing our music with our audiences to deepen their appreciation of the music we perform, and to demonstrate the joyous and important role music can play, even in the lives of busy adults.


BOARD MEMBERS

Stephanie Arthur

After being the Chief Prosecutor for the City of Federal Way for 9 years, Steph now enjoys being a stay at home mom to her two boys. She is a huge sports fan and plays indoor soccer regularly. She has been a member of the Met for 8 years.

Elizabeth (Liz) Day

Liz Day is a lifelong resident of Seattle and currently works at AAA Travel in Washington State’s corporate office. She attended the University of Washington and is an active member of their Alumni Association. Liz previously worked for Holland America and traveled all over the world taking groups on specialized trips. She currently is a host with AAA Travel of Washington and loves helping passengers on the various trips she hosts. She taught Hospitality and Tourism at Highline College for 9 years and specialized in Cruise Ship Operations which she teaches now to new agents at AAA Washington. Since 2010, Liz has sung Alto 2 with the Met and loves the challenges of the music.

Richard Hacker

Richard Hacker is an author living and writing in Seattle. He has been a member of the Offbeats Jazz Ensemble since 2015.

Phyllis Jantz

In 2007, Phyllis Jantz shifted gears from supervisor to retiree/stay-at-home mom, and from the desert to the PNW—and is loving it! She has sung Soprano II with the Met since the fall of 2013. She is also known for her gardening and baking.

Sonja Outlaw

An Information Technology leader, Sonja joined the Met in 2010 and is a Soprano 1. She makes her home in Seattle.

Sally Goetz Shuler

Sally has spent the past several decades working to transform science learning for our youth, especially those who are underserved and underrepresented. She was the former co-founder and executive director of the National Science Resources Center of the Smithsonian Institution and the National Academies in Washington, DC, and the Washington Informal Science Education Consortium comprised of the Burke Museum, IslandWood, Museum of Flight, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Aquarium, and the Woodland Park Zoo. For the past several years, she has been working as a consultant specializing in capacity building, organizational development, fundraising, partnership development, and strategic and business planning as applied to non-profit management. Her clients include the University of Washington, the Hewlett-Packard Company, the International Society for Technology, Salish Sea Expeditions, and Smithsonian Institution National Museum of the American Indian. She has been a high school science teacher, school district resource leader, and executive. Sally has a BA in Biology from Edinboro State University, and MS in Environmental Health Sciences from George Washington University.

Theresa Truex

A local real estate broker, Theresa has been on the SGC Board since 2007. An Alto 1, she has been with the Met for 12 years.
